Shawn Y. Grinnen is an experienced senior litigation attorney at Lipson Neilson‘s Bloomfield Hills, Michigan law firm. Mr. Grinnen’s primary practice concentrates on business and transactional law, commercial litigation, real property, miscellaneous errors and omissions, office/director liability, and construction litigation.

Mr. Grinnen has done work for various real estate developers, builders, contractors, and many small to medium sized business entities across Michigan concerning issues including but not limited to contract disputes; commercial lease disputes; business torts; fraudulent conveyances; shareholder, member and/or partner disputes; class-action defense.

Mr. Grinnen was also active in various matters for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in its receiver capacity over failed banks.

In addition, Mr. Grinnen’s practice includes negotiating and drafting various real estate related documents including but not limited to PUD Agreements, purchase agreements and other real estate transaction documents, condominium documents, commercial leases, assignments, etc.

He believes effective representation requires common sense and a balanced approach of being a counselor and advocate to achieve client goals and cost-effective results.

While in law school, Mr. Grinnen was the Managing Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review, participated in the school’s 60-Plus Elder law clinic, was an active research and teaching assistant as well as grade appeal magistrate, and a student member of the American Inns of Court.

Mr. Grinnen also received book awards in Research and Writing, Advanced Research and Writing, and Scholarly Writing.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Grinnen joined the Michigan Court of Appeals, where he was a prehearing research attorney in the Lansing office.

Mr. Grinnen is admitted to practice before all State of Michigan trial and appellate courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
