Alex L. Alexopoulos, a partner with Lipson, Neilson, Cole, Seltzer & Garin, P.C., is an experienced litigator who defends employers in federal and state court actions in Michigan and Ohio against gender, race, age, disability discrimination, retaliation and FMLA claims, as well as wrongful discharge and related tort claims. He has also successfully handled appeals in the Michigan Supreme Court, Michigan Court of Appeals and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also has assisted employers in the creation and revision of employment documents, including employee handbooks, sex harassment policies, employment applications, absenteeism and drug testing policies. His client base includes large corporations as well as smaller companies and individuals.

Mr. Alexopoulos, who speaks fluent Greek, graduated cum laude from Oakland University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He successfully passed the CPA exam in 1986. He earned his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law in 1987. He was admitted to the Michigan bar and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan in 1987; the U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan in 1988; the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 1994; and the Ohio Bar in 2000.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association (Labor & Employment and Litigation section), Oakland County Bar Association and the Hellenic Bar Association. He has also continuously served as the Assistant Treasurer for the Michigan Judges Association since 1988 and served as the law clerk to the Honorable James S. Thorburn (1986-1987).
