Howard Lax "Identity Theft" Article Featured in American Bar Association Publication


Bloomfield Hills, Michigan – Howard A. Lax, a partner at Lipson, Neilson, Cole, Seltzer & Garin, recently authored and article that was featured in the American Bar Association’s (ABA) publication RPPT eReport. The article, titled “Identity Theft,” appeared in the October edition of the ABA’s online publication that provides information for real property, probate and trust law section members. According to the article, “Identity theft is America's fastest-growing crime. Last year alone, more than 9.9 million Americans were victims of identity theft, a crime that cost them roughly $5 billion…. there is a market for stolen identities, and so few of the individuals who steal and sell identities are ever caught.” The article is available utilizing the following link: www.abanet.org/rppt/publications/ereport/2006/1/lax.shtml.

Mr. Lax has written several articles and participated in numerous seminars, including “Michigan Residential Real Estate Documents” and “Preparation and Handling of Michigan Real Estate Closings” for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), and “Federal Regulation of Mortgage Transactions” for the Florida Bar Association’s Advanced Mortgage Law Seminar.

Howard Lax is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and its Business Law Section as well as the Real Property Law Section, where he is a member of the Section’s governing council and where he contributes resources for real estate attorneys. He also serves on the Condominiums, PUDs and Cooperatives Committee, the Mortgages and Related Financing Devices Committee, the Security Interests Committee, the Residential Transactions Committee, and the On-line Publications Committee.
