BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich.  – Douglas E. Kelin has joined Lipson, Neilson, Cole, Seltzer & Garin, P.C. law firm, as an attorney in their Bloomfield Hills office. 

            Mr. Kelin will work with the firm’s Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Banking Law practice groups. He has experience as counsel in all forms of businesses, and is experienced in handling issues varying from selecting an appropriate form of business entity, to corporate governance and business succession planning. Mr. Kelin also provides advice on a broad range of taxation issues.  

            He received his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University in 2006, and his L.L.M in Banking and Finance Law from Boston University in 2008.  At Boston University School of Law, Mr. Kelin concentrated on the areas of Financial Services Transactions and Compliance Management.  His training strongly emphasized the regulation of banks, securities and pooled funds.  He has also worked extensively with several important pieces of economic legislation, such as the Investment Company Act, the Securities Act, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  

            Mr. Kelin has also worked in the legal counsel division at Citizens Bank, handling such banking issues as redrafting Citizen’s Consolidated Consumer Credit Policy and has provided guidance on multiple commercial lending documents in the cash management area.
